Data Mining

Print E-mail

One of the most important benefits of using a database is the ability to learn about your customers and improve your services and profitability.

Data Mining is our way of doing this and making it easy and simple for you to answer simple questions like:

  • What do most people buy from us?
  • What does our typical customer do?
  • What are our staff actually doing?

But what about more interesting questions such as:

  • What does a typical customer cost us?
  • Who are our most expensive customers?
  • What is the profile of our typical customer?

Or how about:

  • Where do we open our new clinic?
  • Who should we target in our advertising?
  • If we take on this new corporate client, based on the patient population, what services are they likely to use most often?

These are all questions that are crucial to running a business and offering a complete service.

We believe we are unique in the marketplace in our ability to offer true business intelligence from your dataset.

Case study

One of our clients had a clinic where the staff were constantly complaining that they weren't able to do their jobs as there was always too much to do.

We were called in to find out exactly what they were doing and compare this to the other clinics.

We were able to plot all the database activity of the receptionists in that clinic and build a 'Stress Profile' for the clinic. Stress Profile

As you can see from the image, the areas of most 'Stress' are Monday morning where the colours are yellow. Wednesday lunchtime is also busy at this cinic but Wednesday afternoon at 4pm is almost dead.

By plotting this graph, we were able to find out when additional staff were needed at the clinic. We were also able to compare this graph to other centres and in fact found one member of staff who's 'Peaks' or areas of highest number of database transactions per minute was almost twice that of other people - meaning she was doing nearly twice as much in the database as her peers.

The staff at this clinic got the help they needed and the extra productive member of staff got a pay rise!
