Many people ask us what makes EMMA better than other competing products such as Practice Manager.
We have put together a short list of just a few of the things that we most often get asked about.
Appointment Bookings
EMMA is unique in that it only lets you book appointments and products that the invoicee will actually pay for. Many competing systems have 'Charge codes' that the user must select to confirm the correct price. There may be literally hundreds of these and these are a major source of error for many practices.
EMMA understands the nature of each contract with each provider or corporate and therefore only offers the admin user (or patient if booked online) the products or appointments that the provider will pay for at the price agreed. It sounds so simple, but it makes such a difference:

Appointment confirmations
Many systems offer email or SMS reminders and confirmations, but none offer such a comprehensive email or letter as EMMA.
Each email contains not only the time/doctor/location information, but also a complete section detailing the specific information relating to the appointment booked. For an example, Take a look
Equally, SMS messages are fairly common, but few send the messages automatically 24 hours before every appointment (if the patient wants them) with the CallerID set to the phone number of the clinic with the body of the message in plain language.
EMMA also generates a confirmation letter with all the details contained in the email, but stored in the patient file for reference.
Online Booking
What is the point of online booking if your provider is simply going to make a web-request form on your website? You will only need to contact the patient again. This wastes the patient's time and yours.
EMMA offers a complete patient online booking portal that gives the patient complete access to the areas of your dairy that you have made available. Appointments are live and available 24 hours a day complete with real prices shown. Patients may also manage their bookings and view exercises online too at their leisure.
Invoicing and Billing
Because we take great care to ensure that EMMA only accepts the correct charges for each patient, our billing is far more streamlined than the competition. Charges are available for viewing immediately and invoices can be created instantly. We have spent a long time working closely with accountants to ensure that our billing system complies with Standard Accounting Practice and we know that your accountants will love the features in EMMA.
If your system allows you to retrospectively modify invoices, even after month end, then you will be aware of the problems this can cause. We process proper credit notes and have automated 'Reallocate' buttons that allow you to easily move charges between patient and insurance company, whilst at the same time ensuring that all rules are correctly followed.
We also have every conceivable report already built in including Days Sales Outstanding, Aged Debtors and others that allow you to keep a firm track of where your money is coming from,

Completely Web Based and multilocation ready
Some systems are now starting to offer a 'Web Based' option. This is not the same thing as a completely web based system. We run on any system. You can have complete access to every part of your practice from anywhere you like. The system is fast, online and always available. If the system experiences a problem, only you are affected and nobody else is touched making reliability sky high.
The web based nature of the system also means that you can grow to new sites and locations simply by telling EMMA that you have a new Location with however many rooms (4 clicks of the mouse) and EMMA will be live instantly. Simply plug in a computer at that location and your new clinic is set up instantly with completely distinct or integrated billing, cross booking and every other feature available in your other centres. No expensive servers, no VPNS, no fuss, simply 4 clicks and go.
These are just some of the features that are core to EMMA, and don't even touch on the more advanced features we feature which are totally unmatched elsewhere.
We hope you find this informative - a lot of the systems out there look very similar on the surface, but they fall down in so many ways. We didn't take the decision to write our own system lightly, but we simply couldn't find a single system out there that had the reliability and integrity we needed as well as the freedom found in web based systems.
